We’re on ABC News!
We’re excited to share that Plan It Wild was recently featured on ABC News in a story titled “Homeowners are increasingly re-wilding their homes with native plants, experts say.” It’s a moment we’ve been working toward, seeing what we’ve worked so hard towards reach a much wider audience.
The piece highlights how many homeowners are turning away from traditional lawns toward landscapes that nurture wildlife, save water, and reduce maintenance. People are removing turf and planting native shrubs, trees, and wildflowers. They’re letting certain areas grow wild, allowing nature to fill in the spaces that once felt lifeless. Already, butterflies like monarchs are returning, deer and foxes are wandering back, and yards are becoming mini-sanctuaries. ABC News
Seeing this shift play out on national television feels incredibly encouraging. It isn’t just about individual yards anymore; the tag “rewilding” is gaining power nationwide. More people are recognizing that a yard doesn’t have to look perfect to be meaningful, and that letting things grow a little more naturally can deliver profound benefits—for wildlife, for the climate, and for our own connection to the world outside our windows.
At Plan It Wild, we believe this kind of change matters, and this ABC spotlight helps amplify it. Each yard transformed into something richer and more alive reweaves the fabric of local ecosystems. When that message reaches more people, we get closer to landscapes where biodiversity thrives rather than struggles.
We’re grateful for the exposure and even more motivated by what homeowners are already doing. Rewilding isn’t an ideal in the distance. It’s happening now, in neighborhoods across the country. Let’s keep it growing.
